The South Carolina DNR needed a 9-position, 25-yard pistol range to be fitted in between two existing rifle ranges. Because of the close proximity of the ranges, providing adequate safety from ricocheting bullets was top priority. The range featured a 120’ W by 17’ T compacted earth berm to serve as a backstop for the projectiles. Ten-foot tall wooden fences and grout-filled concrete masonry (CMU) walls lined the sides of the range. Other features included:
  • Concrete driveway
  • Rock-filled wood barrier wall
  • Wood slate retaining wall
  • Sod
